Tony Sun Joins Knightsbridge Advisers' Advisory Councils CAMBRIDGE, MA--(February 18, 2011) - Knightsbridge Advisers (www.knightsbridgeusa.com), a leading investment firm participating in top tier, early stage venture and growth equity partnerships announced that Tony Sun has joined their Advisory Councils. Tony Sun was a General Partner of Venrock Associates for over 30 years and Managing General Partner and CEO for the last 8 years, retiring in 2010. Tony invested in and advised over 60 high tech companies with more than two dozen IPOs or successful M&A realizations, including 3COM, Komag and Stratacom. In addition, in 2000, he founded GGV Capital (formerly known as Granite Global), a successful $1 billion China-focused venture fund. Tony participated in, and helped shape, the evolution of information technology from the early days of semiconductor manufacturing, through the innovations in telecommunications, to the paradigm shift of the Internet. Tony was named to the Forbes Midas list, including a top ten ranking in 2002. He was an active member of the NVCA, serving on its board. Throughout his career, he additionally has been active in educational and international communities and formerly served on the board of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), serving on the visiting committees for the Departments of Electrical Engineering and Material Science, and as a member of the endowment's investment committee. He is a member of the Stanford Associates, providing the lead for the Sun Field Station at the Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve at Stanford University. He is a founding board member of the HBS Research Center in California, was a venture capital advisor to the US Navy and was a member of the International Resource Panel for the Government of Singapore. Tony currently serves on the Boards of CM Capital and various public and private companies. Tony is the Chair of the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, serves on the Boards of the MIT Center for International Studies, the Harvard China Fund, the Singapore University of Technology and Design (a new University founded in collaboration between Singapore and MIT), and the Committee of 100 (a bi-partisan organization of prominent Chinese Americans to address US-China relations). Tony holds BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering from MIT and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
